DESCRIPTION

Large 19th Century Mutitool Lockback Farriers Knife with Corkscrew Marked "LUND 57 Cornhill"

A fabulous large 19th century multitool farriers knife.  This is a stunning example of English cutlery and is marked on all the tools and blades "Lund 57 Cornhill". This piece was almost certainly custom made by one of the top Sheffield cutlers and distributed by LUND. The knife measures 5.625 inches (14.4 cm) in length in the closed position. The knife contains a large 4.5 inch (11.4 cm) lockback master blade, a triangular pick, button hook, pen blade, screw driver with wide blade for use on harness screws, a hoof pick, awl and corkscrew. All the tools are in good condition with no broken or damaged parts, with the exception of the pen blade which has two small chips near the tip. The master blade shows little signs of wear with just some very light staining (It has not been cleaned).  The lock for the master blade protrudes through a retangular hole in the hoof pick which closes over the lock in the closed position.  This allows the master blade to opened and closed without opening the hoof pick. There are four additional tools housed in pockets in the knife scales, these include a folding brass ruler, tweezers, scissors and a round pick.  All the blades and tools open and close with a strong snap and all the back springs are in good working order. The knife has excellent bone scales. The only issue with the knife is a small loss of bone on both sides at the bale end of the knife by the internal tool pockets.  The knife has an inset rectangular badge which is marked "FRAZER".  This is a wonderful piece in overall amazing condition. I believe this knife dates from the mid 19th Century.   (Please see pictures for additional details).
