This very handsome combination tool with repousee sterling scales was made by Kerr, one of America's finest manufacturers of decorative silver. They were the peers of Tiffany and Gorham and their products are avidly sought after by today's collectors. We know it was made before 1892 because Kerr used the hallmark of a fasces (a single-bit axe with rods bound with straps) as a trademark only from 1855 until 1892. It is in vg condition ( no dents or dings ) but could use a light polishing. We did not polish it to facilitate photography but it would brighten easily if the buyer so desires. Worm has original sharp tip.
