Add a replica A.M. Irby 1905 U.S. pat. "Combo. corkscrew & spoonholder" to your collection of U.S. patents and/or unusual corkscrew combinations....
This 1905 U.S. patent #793,724 was issued on July 4, 1903 for a combination "corkscrew & spoonholder" to Addie Irby who stated " As is well known in the use of medicine and the like, it is a source of inconvenience and often times chargin not to find a spoon handy and ready for use when it is desired to administer the patient". The combination corkscrew and spoonholder was Addie's solution to the problem(see patent description, etc. in photos.).A thourough search by many, many corkscrew collectors over the past 60 years has not proved successdul. Hence a very limited number of this special patented design corkscrew was replicated 10 years ago for a special gathereing of corkscrew collectors in Williamsburg, VA.
This 3" single loop handle corkscrew with wire helix is not marked. The souvenir spoon is marked "Colonial Williamsburg" on the top of the handle.The 8" tall bottle is marked"Scott's Emulsion, Cod Liver Oil w/ lime & soda" on the side panels. A "storied corkscrew design" to add to your collection.
