The book has 256 pages in full colour. 783 figures show a wide range of corkscrews and patent designs. Many of these corkscrews have never been shown before and are taken from private collections.
The corkscrews are divided into several groups according to the way they penetrate the cork, withdraw the cork, and remove the cork from the worm. The evolution of the corkscrew mechanisms is investigated and traced according to patent designs, trade catalogues, and so on.
In the foreword to the book, Bert Giulian states: Ferd's talent has been combined with diligence and dedication to the study and research of the corkscrew literature, patent specifications, and registered designs. He has exhaustingly compiled wonderful material, including many corkscrews never seen before, and has painstakingly organized them into practical categories.
